Abstract

Introduction: Dandy Walker Syndrome is rare and caused by a congenital anomaly of the cerebellum and fourth ventricle in childhood, and mild cases have been diagnosed in adolescence. It has not been possible to determine the reason why these disorders occur. It is a rare anomaly in Cuba

Objective: Describe behavioral and emotional disorders in a patient with a variant of Dandy Walker Syndrome.

Case presentation: Male adolescent, mestizo, with a history of several admissions to the child-juvenile psychiatry ward, since he was 9 years old, re-admitted in January 2020 due to cephalalgia and behavioral disorders. Physical examination with signs that mimic a neuropsychic process and congenital phenotypic abnormalities. Karyotype results: 47, XYY, 16gh+ (metases) and imaging tests confirming the diagnosis of a Dandy Walker variant with a neurodevelopmental disorder.

Conclusions: Behavioral and emotional disorders were described in this patient, whose karyotype and imaging tests agree with a Dandy Walker variant with neurodevelopmental disorder.
