Impacto de la inteligencia artificial en la salud mental de adolescentes y jóvenes: revisión sistemática

Introducción: los trastornos mentales afectan entre el 10 % y 20 % de los adolescentes y jóvenes, de manera que constituyen una prioridad sanitaria mundial. En este contexto, la inteligencia artificial se perfila como una herramienta prometedora para reducir las brechas en detección, diagnóstico e intervención en salud mental.
Objetivo: sintetizar la evidencia disponible sobre el impacto de las aplicaciones de inteligencia artificial en la salud mental de adolescentes y jóvenes.
Métodos: se realizó una revisión sistemática conforme a las directrices PRISMA 2020 en PubMed, PsycINFO, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, IEEE Xplore y Google Scholar. Para ello, se incluyeron estudios publicados entre enero de 2010 y julio de 2025, mientras dos revisores independientes efectuaron la selección, extracción de datos y evaluación de la calidad metodológica.
Resultados: de 3742 registros identificados, 62 cumplieron los criterios de inclusión. Las aplicaciones se clasificaron en chatbots y agentes conversacionales para intervención terapéutica (n=31), modelos de aprendizaje automático para predicción de riesgo y diagnóstico (n=24), y procesamiento del lenguaje natural para detectar síntomas (n=7). En este sentido, los chatbots produjeron efectos pequeños a moderados en la reducción de problemas de salud mental (DME: -0,35; IC 95 %: -0,46 a -0,24), con mejoras significativas en depresión (DME: -0,43) y ansiedad (DME: -0,37). Los modelos de aprendizaje automático mostraron capacidad predictiva prometedora para conductas suicidas (AUC: 0,79‑0,84).
Conclusiones: la inteligencia artificial puede favorecer la intervención temprana y la predicción de riesgos, pero la evidencia aún es insuficiente para recomendar su implementación clínica generalizada.
