Introduction: Pandemics and family violence have caused negative consequenceson people’s psychological functioning and quality of life, especially women. This has led many institutions to join efforts to mitigate these consequences; however, one limitation is to have access to validated instruments that help assess psychological functioning in women.
Objective: Analyze the validity and reliability of the positive psychological functioning scale in mothers who suffer from family violence.
Materials and methods: A technological study with an instrumental design was carried out. 169 mothers who live in the city of Piura, Peru participated. They were selected by means of a non-probabilistic sampling by quotas.
Results: The factorial analysis showed that models proposed in Spain, Mexico and Uruguay did not fit the data; therefore, a new factorial model proposal was elaborated, composed of 6 dimensions and 30 items with significant correlations between dimensions and the total; the fit indices were higher than 0.94, the reliability at a general level and by dimensions was higher than 0.90.
Conclusions: The usefulness of the proposed model is considered feasible to identify the level of impact on psychological well-being. It also constitutes the basis for articulating strategies to promote better personal adjustment and quality of life.
