Abstract

Introduction: Love is a special feeling that we all enjoy with the loved one, characterized by intimacy, passion and commitment sometimes presenting inappropriate behaviors and feelings in the absence of the loved one as an indicator of emotional dependence.

Objective: to identify the types of love according to Sternberg's theory and emotional dependence in women victims of partner violence in an educational institution in Chiclayo.

Methods: It was carried out through simple random probabilistic sampling, 152 women mothers of families from 20 to 58 years of age have been selected, for its measurement the Sternberg triangular love scale (ETAS) was used, adapted and the inventory of emotional dependency (IDE) of Aiquipa.

Results: Positive correlations were found with the components of love and the factors of emotional dependence; Likewise, the type of love that prevails is that of commitment, willingness to continue with the affective bond in the face of marital problems and having the will to maintain a long-term relationship, represented by an empty love, where there is an alliance by commitment, there is no intimacy or passion.
