New identities: a challenge for contemporary psychiatry
Abstract
Se trata de una reflexión sobre un fenómeno emergente que desafía los paradigmas tradicionales de la psiquiatría y la psicología clínica: las llamadas “nuevas identidades”, particularmente la identidad Therian (therianthropía).
El tema, de mucha actualidad en este momento, es controvertido, por lo que merece una discusión crítica y fundamentada desde la perspectiva de la salud mental
Este fenómeno plantea interrogantes fundamentales las especialidades de psicología y psiquiatría: ¿Dónde trazamos la línea entre la diversidad humana legítima y la patología mental? ¿Hasta qué punto debemos aceptar cualquier autodefinición identitaria sin cuestionamiento clínico? ¿Estamos ante una genuina variación de la experiencia humana o ante una manifestación de malestar psicológico disfrazada de identidad?
