Personal and structural barriers to accessing mental health services
Keywords:
Health services accessibility, Health literacy, Social stigma, Mental healthAbstract
Mental health is a global priority due to the high prevalence of depression and anxiety, which are leading causes of disability. Despite progress, inequalities persist that limit access to care. Among personal barriers are stigma, self-sufficiency, lack of information, and distrust. Structural barriers include the shortage of professionals, high costs, geographic limitations, and the digital divide. Reducing this gap requires the implementation of intervention programs that combine education, public policies, and cultural change
