N-Acetylcysteine and Cognitive Impairment: Adjuvant Treatment Mediated by Oxidative Stress

Abstract

The potential of N-acetylcysteine as an adjuvant therapy in mild cognitive impairment is analyzed, highlighting its role in modulating oxidative stress and restoring glutathione levels. Epidemiological, clinical, and experimental findings suggesting neuroprotective effects and improvements in cognitive function are integrated. However, clinical evidence remains limited, and further prospective studies are required to validate its efficacy.
