El burnout silencioso del médico general en zonas rurales

Resumen

En esta carta al editor, los autores presentan, como se puede presentar, en los médicos de áreas rurales, un  deterioro progresivo de la salud mental del profesional, cuyo desenlace más frecuente es el síndrome de burnout.

 A diferencia del burnout en entornos hospitalarios urbanos, donde suele asociarse a la presión asistencial, la alta demanda de procedimientos y el ritmo acelerado, el burnout en contextos rurales tiene manifestaciones particulares: soledad profesional, desmotivación creciente, desconexión emocional con la práctica médica, dificultad para establecer límites entre la vida personal y laboral, y frustración persistente por la incapacidad estructural del sistema para responder de forma efectiva a las necesidades de la comunidad.
